Travita Godfrey - President

• Travita Godfrey serves as principal of Fortis Academy, HCDE’s recovery high school. Godfrey’s 22 years of experience as an educator, prevention specialist, and counselor equip her to lead the school for teens recovering from addiction. The certified principal holds a Master of Counseling and numerous therapy certifications. With a philosophy focused on community service, she is dedicated to building trust within her school community and leading with empathy. She sees Fortis as a safe haven for students’ academic and personal growth. The former coordinator of secondary counseling in Humble ISD and husband are parents to five children and two miniature schnauzers.

Regina Walker - Vice Chair

Regina Walker, LCSW-S, SAP, is a licensed clinical social worker and Substance Abuse Professional with over 25 years of experience delivering evidence-based, trauma-informed mental health services. As the Chief Executive Officer of Sunflower Consulting: Counseling and Therapy Services, PLLC, she provides clinical leadership and expands access to high-quality care for individuals, couples, and families, specializing in crisis intervention, substance use disorders, and advocating for underserved populations. A dedicated educator and mentor, Ms. Walker has served as an adjunct instructor at Texas Southern University, where she earned her Bachelor of Social Work before completing her Master of Social Work at the University of Houston. Her distinguished career is defined by her commitment to reducing barriers to care, empowering communities, and advancing excellence and ethical practice within the social work profession.

Mary Ann Shelvin - Treasurer 

Mary Ann Shelvin is a dedicated community servant and advocate with an extensive history of faith-based outreach in Opelousas, Louisiana, and the Greater Houston area. A graduate of Wheatley High School, she has spent decades providing essential support to marginalized and underserved populations, guided by principles of resilience, compassion, and restorative justice. As a woman in long term recovery Mary knows firsthand on how to meet individuals where they are.  Mary has always been at the core of In His Care Ministries, Ms. Shelvin leads hands-on initiatives aimed at trauma informed, person centered , spiritual guidance, and community relief. Her primary focus areas include coordinating nutritional assistance for unhoused individuals and facilitating prayer circles and mentorship within correctional facilities. Additionally, she serves as a trusted, judgment-free resource and pillar of stability for families navigating acute hardships. Ms. Shelvin’s enduring legacy is defined by her quiet leadership, operational dedication, and an unwavering commitment to human dignity and second chances.

Cynthia Branch - Secretary 

Cynthia Branch is an accomplished Recovery Support Services Program Manager, trainer, and advocate with over a decade of leadership in the peer recovery field. Since 2012, she has dedicated her career to empowering individuals, providing strategic supervision to peer professionals, and advancing the profession through workforce development and advocacy. As a recognized Subject Matter Expert, Cynthia serves on the Texas Certification Board (TCB) Peer Committee and works as an approved TCB Entity and Trainer for Peer Specialists and Peer Specialist Supervisors. Additionally, she partners with the Addiction Research Institute to deliver specialized Medication-Assisted Recovery Support training and Trainer of Trainers programs. As a board member, Cynthia leverages her extensive expertise in ethical peer practice, recovery education, and community advocacy to strengthen organizational initiatives, expand professional opportunities, and empower families to thrive.
